It has been my dream to assemble a group of thru-hiker musicians and perform The Hikers’ Song at the 2010 Trail Days in Damascus, VA, scheduled for May 13 – 16. Tentative name for this group is “Braid and the Hiker Trash.” Mind you, I consider myself Hiker Trash, too! The tentative plan is to assemble interested musicians on the front porch of the Hikers’ Inn on the main street at 8:00 on Friday evening, May 14. This would give us a chance to rehearse The Hikers’ Song and jam on a few more. Our performance would be during the Talent Show on Saturday afternoon after the parade, but the plans would be finalized with more information at hand on Friday evening. Your participation in this would not preclude your participation as a solo act or another group act in the Talent Show. To aid in this effort, I am posting three things:
1. A streaming link to The Hikers’ Song. Click to play.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
2. An MP3 file you can download to your computer.
3. A PDF file containing the lyrics and chord changes for the song.
Come join me in Damascus! Learn the song, practice playing along with it. If you have questions or comments leave a comment on this blog, and I’ll get back to you.
All my best,
Braid, AKA Joe Liles
